A 1980’s detached townhouse was the subject of complete internal reconfiguration and refurbishment along with the addition of a rear extension. The kitchen was relocated from the first to the ground floor where it now has a great relationship to the re-landscaped garden.

 

The rear extension comprises a solid 4 meter deep brick section, extended further into the garden by a 1 meter deep all glass ‘bay’. The bay is entirely constructed of large glass panels structurally bonded together - the visual lightness of this construction serves to further open the house to the garden. The extension is topped by a large 5m x 2m rooflight which was craned into place in one piece.
