Internal Remodelling Works

This project is almost purely ‘interior architecture’. The house is a Grade 2 Listed villa and, naturally, there were limits imposed by conservation issues which had to be resolved through discussion and negotiation with the planning officers at Richmond.

The primary brief was to reorganise the lower ground floor, improve daylight levels, and it’s relationship to the rear garden, along with the installation of a new kitchen, flooring, lighting and external alterations to the rear balcony, steps and hard landscaping.

The architectural moves were relatively subtle; we installed the kitchen towards the front of the house so that the dining area could be located alongside the rear garden and terrace, we opened up a wall between the new kitchen and dining areas and created a new opening out to the garden (to replace an existing window) that precisely replicated the existing original French doors and shutters.

Flooring is by Element 7 over underfloor heating, the kitchen is by Bulthaup, lighting is by John Cullen.
